Lucas Mao brings a wide range of experience and expertise to Polarstars Explorers as a guide - skiing, hiking and packrafting - on and around the Svartisen ice cap.
With a background as a top-level cross-country skier for 10 years, Lucas has acquired solid Nordic experience. Today, he continues to challenge himself by competing in amateur cross-country skiing and ski-mountaineering. He is also an ocean racer, skippering yachts in prestigious events such as the Giraglia Rolex Cup and the Armen Race. With a World Sailing course under his belt, including first aid and sea survival training, Lucas also has a good sea legs.
In addition to his sporting activities, Lucas holds a Master's degree in Innovation and International Purchasing Management and is an alumnus of the prestigious Kedge business school in France. His academic background, combined with his practical experience in the field, gives him a unique perspective and set of skills that enrich his abilities as a guide and leader.
Lucas' adventure with Polarstars Explorers began with a desire to share his love of the outdoors and knowledge of the mountain wilderness with others. He had previously worked as a kayak guide in northern Norway, honing his skills in leading and facilitating outdoor experiences.
