OUR TEAM

OUR STORY

Caroline and Vincent met on the Antarctic Peninsula. One evening, sitting on their sleighs in front of the Drake Passage, they celebrate the success of a guided expedition and share a cigarillo. Destiny pushes them to join forces.

Two years later, they attempted the first winter crossing of Spitsbergen. 1135km in the land of polar bears and in complete autonomy. After 63 days, half of which were in the dark, they succeeded in their bet and said “the Arctic in winter is brutal!” » Then it’s Antarctica. A straight line of 1140km in an icy desert. Caroline sets off alone and without assistance towards the South Pole to beat the women's speed record. She succeeds! Then it was Vincent’s turn to attempt the feat the following year. He is today the fastest person in Antarctic history to have reached the South Pole solo and without assistance. 22 days, 6h and 8min.

Today, they have just started a family and live in Northern Norway. So now we have to stay at home. It is therefore natural that the start-up Polarstars Explorers was created with the desire to share their expertise in the polar regions.

Joins the Polarstars Explorers team, a young wolf. Lucas is a former high-level cross-country ski athlete. He slides his tips as well as he hoists the spy when racing offshore and he reflects the values of the company. Passion, surpassing and security.

OUR VALUES

PASSION

At Polarstars Explorers, passion is the flame that keeps us going. We are driven by a deep passion for exploration and polar expeditions. This passion is reflected in everything we do, from the meticulous planning of each expedition to the provision of exceptional customer service. It's the same passion that enabled us to set speed records in Antarctica, or to make the first winter crossing of Svalbard (63 days / 1135km) in complete autonomy.

Our commitment to a passion for polar exploration is reflected in every aspect of our business. With tireless dedication, we strive to create unforgettable summer guided experiences for our customers in Northern Norway, exploring the counties of Steigen and Meløy, where the majesty of the fjords, the purity of the air and the richness of nature will amaze you. But our passion extends beyond the summer seasons: we've also created a year-round polar expedition academy, located on the largest ice cap in the Norwegian Arctic. It's a place where enthusiasts can feed their curiosity, learn new skills and prepare for their next polar expedition.

SURPASSING OURSELVES

That's the core value of our polar expedition academy! Being comfortable in uncomfortable situations. Stepping out of one's comfort zone is an integral part of any polar expedition. In these extreme environments, every day brings its share of challenges and uncertainties, requiring explorers to adapt quickly and show resilience.

Whether it's facing gale-force winds and freezing temperatures, skiing on thin ice or coming face to face with a polar bear, every moment on a polar expedition pushes you to push your limits and discover your true inner strength. By stepping out of your comfort zone with us, you'll not only overcome physical and mental obstacles, but also find immense satisfaction in their achievement. It's in these moments of challenge and adversity that the true spirit of polar adventure is forged, and it's here that the most precious memories are created. That's why the Svartisen cap is such a unique place, offering so many opportunities to step out of your comfort zone.

“It's only when you know the rules that you can break them”, Caroline and Vincent after their speed record at the South Pole.

SECURITY

Polarstars Explorers, where your adventures are as safe as they are exciting. We believe that every experience should be filled with excitement and wonder, without compromising safety wether you join us for our summer daily guided trips, our polar expedition academy or for any logistic & support related to the Norwegian Arctic.

Our team has the experience to guide you across icecaps and glaciers, the knowledge to survive in bad weather roped up on a mountain ridge, and the maritime skills to stay in control in cold water. We are also trained in wilderness safety, emergency protocols and we've got your back every step of the way.

Safety at Polarstars Explorers is taken at every level: hiking on glaciers, paddling among icebergs, crevasse trainings, polar bear simulations are few examples of our commitment to your well-being. We provide the necessary equipment and practice drills to prepare you for real-life expedition scenarios, ensuring that you are ready to face the challenges of the polar environment.
