Service Description
Svartisen is the biggest icecap in the Norwegian Arctic. Fed by an abundance of snowfall and precipitation, the glacier continuously moves and shifts, creating stunning ice formations and crevasses. Its meltwater feeds numerous rivers and lakes, contributing to the rich biodiversity of the surrounding area. Our journey begins near the shores of Storglomvatnet Lake, setting the stage for an adventure into the heart of Svartisen icecap. Ascending an easy couloir, we gain access to the icy expanse of the glacier, where amazing views await. With crampons secured and ropes in place, we navigate on the pristine snowfields. Our destination? A majestic nunatak (mountain or rocky peak rising above the ice) rising at 1259 meters, offering panoramic views that stretch to the horizon. From this point, we're treated to a spectacle of nature's grandeur, with the vast expanse of the ocean on one side and the serene beauty of Storglomvatnet Lake on the other. As we take in the breathtaking scenery, the sheer magnitude of our surroundings leaves us in awe. On our return journey, a tempting detour presents itself - a pristine lake invites us for a cold plunge, a perfect way to strengthen the body after a day hiking. This unforgettable trek spans 10-12 kilometers, weaving through a landscape of unparalleled beauty and offering moments of true polar exploration. Mandatory equipment: - Trekking (high) or mountaineering shoes - Membrane pants - Membrane jacket - Synthetic or down jacket - Fleece or sweater - 1st top layer (no cotton) - Backpack - Gloves - Beanie - Sunglasses - Lunch (cereal bars, sandwichs) - Bottle of water Recommended equipment: - 1st layer in wool or synthetic at the bottom and top - Woolen socks - Buff - Cap - Solar cream - Thermos Included: - Transportation from Glomfjord - Fykan bus stop to the start point and back - Guide - Crampons - Harness - Iceaxe - Helmet - Rope - Crevasse rescue equipment Not included: - Transportation to Glomfjord Fykan bus stop - Insurance - Lunch How to get there: Step 1 - Bodø by plane (Norwegian, SAS, Wideroe), by train (Vy), by car or by bus (Reise Nordland). Step 2 - Bodø to Ørnes by ferry (1h20min)* or car to Glomfjord (2h). Date & booking time You can change your booking date without any additional charges. If you want to book less than 6 hours from the departure of the trip, please give us a call +47 453 52 503. Refund. You get a full refund if you cancel your trip 2 weeks or more before the start of the activity. You get a 50% refund if you cancel your trip from 7 to 13 days before the start of the activity. You get a 25% refund if you cancel your trip from 3 to 6 days before the start of the activity. You get a 0% refund if you cancel your trip from 1 to 2 days before the start of the activity. Price policy. If you book a trip solo and no other people have booked it, you will pay a higher price to get the trip going.However, if other people booked the same trip at the same date, you consequently end up in a group. We will refund you the difference. For example, you book the « Nordic summer skiing on Svartisen for 1 person the 1st of July. You pay NOK 4000. One or more people also book for the same date. You become then a group. So you will end up paying NOK 2500 / person for the trip and we will refund NOK 1500 on your account.
