About the event
Svartisen is the biggest icecap in the Norwegian Arctic. The icecap consists of two main glaciers, Vestre (Western) Svartisen and Østre (Eastern) Svartisen, each offering unique features and opportunities for exploration. Fed by an abundance of snowfall and precipitation, the glacier continuously moves and shifts, creating stunning ice formations and crevasses. Its meltwater feeds numerous rivers and lakes, contributing to the rich biodiversity of the surrounding area.
Our journey begins near the shores of Storglomvatnet Lake, setting the stage for an adventure into the heart of the Svartisen icecap. Ascending an easy couloir, we gain access to the icy expanse of the glacier, where amazing views await. Skies on foot and roped up, we navigate on the pristine snowfields. Our destination? A majestic Nunatak (mountain or rocky peak rising above the ice) rising at 1259 meters, offering panoramic views that stretch to the horizon. From this point, we're treated to…
