Nordskot traverse - Midnight sun hike

Experience the midnight sun version of the Nordskot Traverse, a scenic hike that combines stunning scenery with exhilarating adventure.

Beginning at 6pm, this 6 to 8-hour journey winds through picturesque trails, gradually ascending to the summit of Sørskottinden at 608 meters. 

After soaking in panoramic views, the route continues along a captivating ridge, offering vistas of Steigen on one side and the majestic Lofoten islands across the sea on the other. Along the way, hikers will encounter light climbing steps and a thrilling 4-meter rappel, adding an extra dash of excitement to this Steigen classic. Join us for an unforgettable exploration of natural beauty and mountainous splendor.

At the end of the traverse, we will reach a col. From that col, we will descend towards another valley where we might be able to pick up fresh berries, adding a delightful touch to the journey's end.

Caroline and Vincent knows the traverse very well as they have been guiding it many times. This is also their training ground. Vincent runs it in 1h36min from the village and back :)

Mandatory equipment:

- Trekking (high) or mountaineering shoes

- Membrane pants

- Membrane jacket

- Synthetic or down jacket

- Fleece or sweater

- 1st top layer (no cotton)

- Backpack

- Gloves

- Beanie

- Lunch (cereal bars, sandwichs)

- Bottle of water

Recommended equipment:

- 1st layer in wool or synthetic at the bottom and top

- Woolen socks

- Buff

- Cap

- Solar cream

- Thermos

How to get there:

Step 1 - Bodø by plane (Norwegian, SAS, Wideroe), by train (Vy), by car or by bus (Reise Nordland).

Step 2 - Bodø to Nordskot by ferry (1h20min) or car (3h30min).
